Controlled Production

Production occurs in in one of Forterra’s precast concrete facilities strategically located to serve the U.S. and Eastern Canadian markets.

Assured Quality

All RED-E-DUCT products are manufactured by a Forterra production facility that is certified by one or more of the following agencies: 

  • American Concrete Pipe Association (ACPA)
  • National Precast Concrete Association (NPCA)
  • Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI)

Testing Ensures Consistent Performance

All RED-E-DUCT products meet stringent design and test requirements according to your project requirements.  Our comprehensive quality control program ensures the product meets specific requirements and will perform as intended.

Superior high-performance concrete

Every RED-E-DUCT product is manufactured using Forterra’s  proprietary concrete mix designs. Concrete batches are tested to ensure compressive strength, and thermal resistivity (Rho values) are in accordance to your project specifications. This eliminates any variance in the quality and consistency of the concrete.

Concrete Compressive Strength Tests

Concrete batches are tested daily to verify and ensure all products will meet specified handling and loading conditions.

Every RED-E-DUCT component is serialized according to batch number ensuring traceability.

Thermal resistivity (Rho) testing

Concrete thermal resistivity verification is performed in-house or by independent 3rd party testing. Thermal dryout curves are available and testing can be tailored to your exact project requirements.

GASKET JOINT –  LEAKAGE TEST

Gasketed joints have been tested to the internal pressure of 25psi as required by NEMA TC-2 Section 5.4.   Test results verify no leak performance and meet the requirements of NEMA TC-2 Section 4.1.3.

Joint Shear and Product Flexural Testing

RED-E-DUCT is rated to accommodate HS20 and HL93 Truck Live Loads.

Power Transmission & Distribution

Duct Bank Installation 

Installed in front of a bank entrance, RED-E-DUCT was used in
conjunction with cast-in-place duct bank to significantly reduce
construction time. Speed of installation reduced the impact to
local businesses.

RED-E-DUCT Precast Duct Bank was utilized to reduce overall site construction time. A crew of four was able to install 60 feet of linear duct bank per hour. Horizontal and vertical runs were installed, including precast Stub-Ups containing rigid galvanized conduits.

RED-E-DUCT Precast Electrical Duct Bank was used to carry fiber and power cables serving a water treatment plant, significantly reducing the time and cost of installation.

Duct Bank Infrastructure Under Access Roads   

RED-E-DUCT Precast Duct Banks were installed under and alongside site access roads in multiple locations. RED-E-DUCT became a perfect solution where site conditions required managing a high-water table and rapid installation, ensuring road closures and site disruptions were kept to a minimum.
